Slinky have been back in the rehearsal studio working hard on a new direction for their 2014 Repertoire. The new song choices are covering Genres from Swing, Ska, Soul and Disco right through to all the big chart hits, but with a twist … Aaron explains:

“Being a 4 piece guitar based band is a lot of fun but also it can be quite restricting on the song choices available to you. There have been so many tracks over the years we have wanted to put into our repertoire but due to the instrumentation available to us this is not been an option ……. that is until now!

With the introduction of a ‘Loop Pedal’ we are now able to play all the tracks that we have not been able too before. We have found after some extensive rehearsals that all we require is the main hook of a song, which is generally one short loop to make a particular track work for us. This may not sound significant but if you were to consider ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay or ‘Step On’ by Happy Mondays as an example these tracks would not work without the main piano part.

This is a really exciting time for the band at the moment and quite daunting also. As we are dropping these loops into the tracks live we really need to be at the top of our game to make sure the loops fit seamlessly into the songs.”
